DairyWater researchers have begun site visits to a number of Irish dairy processing plants around the country. These site visits serve, both, as a fact finding mission, relating to water use and wastewater treatment within the plants, and to collect samples of dairy wastewater, which will be used to characterise the influent into the plant’s wastewater treatment plant. The most recent of these visits was to two of the Lakeland dairy processing plants in Co. Cavan. Below is a photo taken at the effluent plant located at Lakeland’s Bailieborough plant of Colin Finnegan (Lakeland) and two DairyWater researchers, Kelly Fitzhenry and Emma Tarpey.
