The 17th edition of the International RAMIRAN conference was held in Wexford, Ireland between the 4th and 6th September 2017. DairyWater researcher, Dr William Finnegan, attended the event and presented two papers (through oral and poster presentations), including a summary of the DairyWater project, which was entitled “DairyWater: Sustainability and resource efficiency for the Irish dairy processing industry“, and some of the research activity relating to Task 6, which was entitled “Lifecycle assessment of fluid milk production in the Republic of Ireland“.

RAMIRAN “Recycling of Agricultural, Municipal and Industrial Residues in Agriculture Network” is a research and expertise network dealing with environmental issues relating to the use of livestock manure and other organic residues in agriculture. The conference is the primary output of the network, which is held every two years and attracts up to 250 delegates from across Europe and further afield. RAMIRAN 2017 was organised by Teagasc, the Irish Agricultural and Food Development Authority. Further details can be found on the RAMIRAN website.
